Protect Your Moveable Parts While Riding Your Motorcycle With Protective Gear

AMERiders is for protection first and foremost which is why we suggest you Protect Your Moveable Parts While Riding Your Motorcycle With Protective Gear. What do we mean by moveable parts? Those would be your hands and feet. These are some of the most important parts to a rider. If something happens to their hands or feet it takes a while to get back to riding status again. So, here are some tips and our suggestions from our stock of gear that may help keep you protected while riding.

It’s all in the Hands!

Moveable Parts
Fingerless Gloves With White Flames

We have said it before in an article previously that gloves are important! They should never be an option when riding, one of the first things that can hit the ground when a crash or a bike drop happens is your hands. It’s the same whenever you trip and fall walking you instinctively put your hands out to protect yourself, or to keep yourself from falling. It’s a reflex, however, when this reflex happens while riding and your hands are not covered they will most likely be torn up. Lacerations to palms, fingertips, and fingers will occur no matter how fast you were going.

Why were gloves?
Moveable Parts
Fingerless Gloves With White Flames

Hands are delicate and fragile, anyone that has either broken, burned or had something happen to a hand knows, not being able to use a hand until it heals is no fun. So, ensuring your hands are protected by a pair of leather or textile gloves either full or fingerless (which some guys prefer) is important. For great protection try out our Full Finger Motorcycle Riding Gloves

they are made from genuine leather with gel pads and Velcro straps for better comfort.

What are other reasons to wear gloves?
Moveable Parts
Stitched Eagle On Women’s Motorcycle Gloves

Think of it this way…. Anyone that is military or that has a military background will know if you are injured in the leg, of course, you can’t stand but you can still shoot your weapon. Arms and hands that are injured can possibly impair you from firing said weapon, essentially becoming combat ineffective. There are other things to consider as well as to why gloves are important if you injure your hands. These depend on the severity of your injury as well)

  • You won’t be riding your bike till they heal and that could be a while (can you say bike withdrawal?)
  • Using the bathroom won’t be done by yourself and if so could be messy.
  • Eating without help isn’t easy
  • Using a keyboard or mouse won’t be an option for most either so if you’re in the IT business you would definitely be out of work for a while.

Besides our wide selection of men’s, gloves we also have a selection of Women’s Motorcycle Gloves for you ladies to choose from. We have many stylish, and functional pairs of Ladies Natural Leather Gloves regardless of your riding style we have gloves to fit your particular needs.

Why is it important to protect your feet?

Your feet are your foundation, they help you we have seen people in all kinds of footwear from flip-flops, and tennis shoes to flats and high heels. How can they get any traction in this type of footwear? Motorcycles can be dangerous if you are not the correct footwear.

Wearing flip flops or tennis shoes is a very bad thing to do, even if you are not in a moving state damage can still occur to your foot and ankle. Your foot may slip and your bike can fall on your foot and ankle thereby spraining it or even breaking it, and depending on how big your bike is, may burn your feet and legs as well. When the bike is moving it can be even worse as the skin can be torn from the foot showing the bone. We don’t like to be this graphic but it can happen and we have seen it happen.

Helpful information about riding your bike with boots.
Moveable Parts
Women’s 10″ Side Pocket Boot Black

It is important to protect your feet when riding a motorcycle and by wearing boots, it will help you to do this. Leather Motorcycle Boots can help prevent slippage in rain, sleet, snow, and oil as well. Boots can help prevent breaks and burns while riding if a bike is dropped. Protecting Your Feet with Motorcycle boots either leather or textile is very important as you need your feet to ride as much as you need your hands to ride.

Such as our Women’s 10″ Side Pocket Boot Black which are the most technologically advanced biker boots emphasizing durability, long-term wear, and protection while being environmentally friendly. Plus they have a cute useable pocket on the side.

So when you ride, don’t forget to don your riding boots, boots don’t always look like motorcycle boots anymore they have been made to look like cowboy boots, tennis shoes and more so find the boots to fit your style. The main thing is to be comfortable and to protect your feet while riding. The boot is important for your Moveable parts to keep them safe and comfortable.

So, Remember

Don’t forget to pull on those stylish gloves and comfortable boots no matter what time of the year it is as they are some of the best protective gear you can wear next to your helmet for your Moveable Parts. AMERiders has a large selection of both stylish gloves and boots for both Men and Women.

Before You Rev up Gear up With Protective Riding Gear

At AMERiders we are all about that Epic Ride each summer, and ensuring that you are geared up and safe is our number one priority. So, before you rev up gear up with protective riding gear, for motorcycle riding. As you can tell this is an addition and add on to our last blog post about helmets which we said we would elaborate more on the head to toe aspect of Protective Motorcycle Gear. Before Revving up there are questions you need to ask yourself.

Questions to ask yourself before riding this summer

Is your Jacket fitting the way it should, is it loose or too tight, or is it showing signs of wear?
Protective Riding Gear
A Jacket and Trousers can save your skin

If the answer to this question is a yes, then you need to be looking for a new jacket for riding. Most of us have two jackets for riding with anyway, one for summer and one for winter. Our winter one usually is a bit bigger so we can have our thicker clothing on underneath it. However, our summer one is usually lighter and cooler and fits a bit closer than our winter one would.

When a jacket is too loose then it will move and not protect as it should, if it is too tight then it is distracting and can cause a distraction.  This can lead to laying your bike down which is never fun. Also, if your jacket is starting to signs of wear and there is a crash then it may not protect you as it should. It may shred when sliding across the asphalt giving no protection to that area at all.

Protective Riding Gear
Women’s Leather Jacket With Z/O Lining

At AMERiders we have a large selection of Jackets for Men, Women, and Children to choose from like this Women’s Leather Jacket With Zip Out Lining features Zip-Out lining and multi pockets. The classic style collar gives this jacket the fashionable look, plus a ton more features and is a great selection of one of our many Protective Riding Gear items in stock.

Another question to ask is about your chaps and riding pants.

The same questions you are asked about jackets can be asked about your pants and chaps. However, if chaps are too tight on the thigh it can cause you to lose circulation while you are riding. It will also make them uncomfortable if you “layer up”.  You should be able to slide your hand under the top of the chap while sitting down. If Chaps are too loose they may move or shift making removing some of the protection from the area they are exposing. If the pants are worn as with a jacket they will shred and remove protection from the area they are exposed.

If Chaps are too loose they may move or shift making removing some of the protection from the area they are exposing. If the pants are worn as with a jacket they will shred and remove protection from the area they are exposing.

Protective Riding Gear
Cream Dreamcatcher Women’s Chaps

When having your measurements done for fittings for your chaps remember this. Ensure your measurements are taken while wearing riding clothes and boots. Plus always ensure your measurements are taken snuggly but not tight. And allow one inch for expansion.

For Instance, these stylish Cream Dreamcatcher Women’s Chaps titled the ‘Dreamcatcher’ due to the Native American dream catcher design. Have bone, beads, fringes, and the leather is made from top-quality ivory colored leather to give it its final stylish look.

These are gorgeous chaps to be riding your motorcycle in, and a great choice for Protective Riding Gear. Again this is just one selection that can be made of our many pairs of chaps and riding pants we have in stock at AMERiders.

Don’t Forget to Gear up This Summer Before You Step out for That Epic Ride

AMERiders is all about safety which is why we want to remind you Don’t Need to Forget to Gear up This Summer Before You Step out for That Epic Ride. We all wish long for the Epic ride each and every spring and summer, however, we don’t want to be on that ride and have it ruined by any type of accident or mishap along the way, which is why gearing up is very important. We will give you suggestions over, the next couple blog posts on why wear certain pieces of gear to protect you starting with the helmet.

Protect that Noggin

“Humpty-Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty-Dumpty had a great fall; All the king’s horses and all the king’s men Couldn’t put Humpty together again.” We all heard this nursery rhyme when we were little and it reminds me to put on my helmet every time I go out riding. There are many reasons that you should wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle here are at least 5 of them to think about for your next Epic Ride.

It Might Be the Law in Your State

Epic RideSome states require all motorcycle riders to wear a helmet. If you don’t, you risk being pulled over and ticketed. As part of their motorcycle safety courses, this is just one of the things that licensed drivers are taught. These laws are different for every state and if you are unsure if the state you may be traveling through or to has a law or what it may be you can look it up here.

It Reduces the Risk of Head Injuries

A University of Pennsylvania study highlights the importance of motorcycle helmet wearing. Since the state of Pennsylvania repealed its motorcycle helmet law in 2003, riders’ head injury fatalities from wrecks increased by 66 percent. Hospitalization for motorcycle-related head injuries increased by 78 percent. That’s some pretty strong evidence.

It Makes you Easier to See
Epic Ride
Wait, you chose to wear a neon colored helmet?

Motorcyclists know they are much harder to see on the road than cars and trucks. Helmets not only increase your mass, many offer reflective material that helps other drivers see you. Fortunately, some motorcycle helmets feature reflective surfaces, making you more visible to other drivers; even if you are wearing black! So, be noticeable for your next Epic Ride.

Our HJC SY-MAX III MODULAR HI-VIZ TOURING HELMET ChatterBox XBi2-H Plus Bluetooth Communication System is just such a helmet. It is designed to seamlessly to integrate with the Sy-Max III has built-in mounting tabs for the microphone and the ChatterBox unit, so you can internally route all of the wires for a clean look. The best thing about this Sy-Max III it is HI-Viz Yellow so everyone can see you.

It Protects you from Road Debris
Epic Ride

Road debris is often overlooked by passenger vehicle drivers but motorcyclists must contend with a variety of environmental obstacles. Rocks or other material falling from a vehicle ahead, Dust blowing in the eyes, and Debris kicked up off the road can cause injury to a rider and even sometimes a wreck. A helmet can help vision stay unimpaired and possibly help you to avoid the major issue.

It Protects you from the Elements

Epic RideHelmets keep your head warm in winter. In the summer, they help reduce the likelihood of sunburn. They keep out wind and rain all year round.

We’ve given you enough to think enough about with wearing helmets when you ride, so we will move on to another piece of gear next week so stay tuned.

We would like to let you know now ship internationally with our same shipping guarantees within the continental US for anything over $50 is free. But for our international customers, we can now ship to you.

Tips for Riding With Your Dog on Your Motorcycle Safely

AMERiders wants to give you Tips for Riding With Your Dog on Your Motorcycle Safely if you decide to ride with your best buddy. We all love our dogs they are our best friends, our family, our furbabies, and we would love to take them everywhere and some of us do. What if you could take your buddy on a ride with you on your motorcycle? Some people actually do so, some dogs are made for it others are not, so before you say oh this is gonna be fun let’s do it, there are things you can do before you try to train your pet to do this.

Starting Tips

Starting to ride a motorcycle with your furry best friend can be a challenge if you have never actually done it before. Here are a few tips that will help you make things easier to start the process. First off know your dog if you don’t think that Rover would be able to do that then don’t try it. While there is a great appeal to riding with your pet safety for you and them should come first.

Start with the bike

DogDon’t have the bike running when you start, put them on the bike in whatever position you will have them in during riding. Gently lean the bike back and forth to get them used to the bike leaning and for them to have to learn to balance themselves. Remember this is a training experience if they do good reward them with a treat. If they seem like they want to jump off and run away they may not be ready to go out yet, do this routine several times until they seem like they don’t want to jump and run.

Once they seem like they are comfortable with them wobbling, then start the bike with them already in position this avoids you needing to get on the bike after putting them in position with it started. Plus it also gets them used to the bike sound. They will already be in an area they are comfortable with and lean the bike again gently back and forth a few times to get them used to this before rolling at all.

Beginning to Ride

DogRoll forward very slowly, a rolling motion will feel very different from rocking the bike back and forth. Use a speed that won’t injure your dog if it gets scared and tries to jump off. You can increase speed as you two become more comfortable together, eventually going out on normal rides at higher speeds. Some owner/dog riding duos ride n the highway, do hundreds of miles day. Like Adam and Scooter of Scootin America.

Storage

If you have a smaller dog, 17 pounds or lower, you may be lucky enough to have them fit neatly in your jacket. Some may feel incredibly comfortable and quickly adjust to getting settled in. Keeping your dog close to your body when they are that small is helpful for some reasons. It helps keep them calm, and you can feel all of his movements if they start to get squirmy about needing to go to the bathroom.

Dog
Motorcycle Backpack

Some use just a normal Sissy bar pack or Motorcycle backpack which we carry and have a great many to choose from.

There are tons products designed to keep pup secure on your motorcycle while also giving them a little space to tuck away if they need to get out of the wind, like Adam and Scooter use. Recently asked a police officer was asked what he thought about riding with a pet, and he said he thought it was great as long as “the load is secured,” and the animal isn’t at risk of flying off, which seems obvious.

Protection

Dog
Women’s Leather Jacket With Reflective Stripes

We here at AMERiders gear up from Jackets to boots and back again, before every ride and, as we love our pets, we want to keep them just as safe. Luckily there are a handful of products out there to keep your pup sitting pretty and safe on the ride.

Eye protection is an important part of the dog’s get-up. Leaning their faces into the wind, they catch a ton of dust and debris while riding, and covering up their peepers is a must. Doggles will stay on their head well and don’t move around in the wind while protecting their eyes.

Insulation is also a good idea especially if they are a dog that is riding in a carrier. Another idea for large dogs would be to attach a sidecar to your bike where the dog can ride more safely.

If you want to try to ride with your dog, it can be a lot of fun and a great activity for the two of you to do together, but there is a high risk and you should pay utmost attention to your dogs safety, making sure you’re both completely ready before attempting riding out on the road.

We would like to take a poll to find out if you would like to see us carrying these products. As you know we like to ensure that we bring you products that you love and that affordable. So, let us know your thoughts and views on this topic on our Facebook page.

Avoid Being Hit By the Dreaded Left-Turners and hearing the “I didn’t see them line

We would like to apologize that our blog did not go out at it’s regularly scheduled time Wednesday as we had technical difficulties, So here is what was suppose to go out for you to read. AMERiders is all about safety and is here to give tips about Avoiding Being Hit By the Dreaded Left-Turners and hearing the “I didn’t see them line”. If you are a biker you have heard those aggravating, “I didn’t see him,” stories about car drivers who turned in front of motorcyclists. While it doesn’t make it right, it also doesn’t help you when you’re bouncing off a car. Visibility and perception are the causes of intersection accidents, and they’re also the keys to avoiding them as well.

Be Seen!

Run with your high beam on during the day. This catches other drivers’ eyes and makes you appear closer. It also helps separate you from the increasing number of cars with daytime running lights.

left turnersWear a brightly colored—Day-Glo, yellow, orange, white or red—jacket. like our Our Men’s Racer Jacket With Side-Laces is a racing style jacket made from Top Grade genuine leather, with reflective piping across the front and back of the jacket.  Has a nice quilted lining for warmth on cold rides as well as vents to cool you off as well. It also is made is accented in an amazing orange color as well as side laces. This may help the dreaded left-turners to see you better.

Left Turners
Wait, you chose to wear a neon colored helmet?

Wear a helmet painted a single bright color like our HJC SY-MAX III MODULAR HI-VIZ TOURING HELMET Designed to seamlessly to integrate with the ChatterBox XBi2-H Plus Bluetooth Communication System, the Sy-Max III has built-in mounting tabs for the microphone and the ChatterBox unit, so you can internally route all of the wires for a clean look. The best thing about this helmet is that it is HI-Viz Yellow so everyone can see you .

This helmet is made from a fiberglass shell with a polycarbonate chin bar, CAD technology was used in making this helmet as comfortable as possible to wear. A glasses grove has been added to reduce temporal pressure for glasses wearers also, and much more. This helmet is definitely eye-catching to left-turners.

Be aware of other vehicles

Position yourself where drivers waiting at an intersection can see you as you approach.

Use large vehicles, such as trucks and buses, as shields and pass through the intersection next to them. Cross-traffic might not see you, but they will see a bus—and they won’t turn in front of it.

Be aware of what you can’t see. A larger vehicle ahead of you, even an SUV or mini-van—can conceal a small car that’s about to turn in front of you. Never commit yourself to an intersection until you can see all potential threats.

Unless you believe a car may turn in front of you, maintain a constant (but prudent) or very slightly slowing speed as you approach the intersection.

Drivers may not anticipate acceleration and feel there’s room to get in front of you. If they perceive that you’re slowing, they may believe you’re going to turn or stop and that it’s okay to pull out.

Don’t signal for any turn you plan to make immediately after the intersection until you are clear of the intersection, and be sure to cancel your signals immediately after any turn since a forgotten signal tells a driver that you’re going to turn and he can pull out.

If there’s only one potential threat in the intersection, gradually move to the opposite side of your lane or an adjacent same direction lane.

EYE CONTACT

Don’t proceed just because you believe you have made eye contact with the driver who was beginning to turn in front of you. We’ve seen many, many letters from injured riders who said, “We made eye contact, but he just kept turning….”

High-Output Revolution X™ engine

We were all warned as kids about playing in the street. If you’re the sort who never listened to a word of it, we’ve got your motorcycle. The street is where the action is. The Harley-Davidson Street® series is a line of bikes built with one purpose in mind: to make the most of it. Every inch of the motorcycle has been thought through to meet the demands of navigating the urban landscape. The Street Rod™ features a new High-Output Revolution X™ engine that will rocket you from stoplight to red line at 9000 rpm. New 43 mm inverted front forks and piggyback reservoir rear shocks let you carve through clogged streets with ease. You get a pure, stripped down, aggressive look. Settle into the scooped, racing-style seat and you’ll never blend in with the crowd.

Last but not least

We want to say personally that we thank you for making us what we are, sticking with us each week. Without you we aren’t who we are. Please ensure you ride with safety as we want all our brothers and sisters to come home safe and sound….. And for those of you that drive vehicles and not motorcycles…..

Spring Has Sprung Are You Geared up and Ready to Ride

AMERiders Knows That Spring Has Sprung but We Also Want to Know If You Are You Geared up and Ready to Ride We Know We Are. As we pull the cover off our iron steeds, unhook our trickle chargers, run the StaBil treated gas out of the tank and knock the dust off our rides, we need to think about a lot of things as we gear up for another fun and adventurous riding season. Gear, Pre-season ride checks, making sure you’re in shape again to ride your bike is definitely a good idea too, there are other things too that all bikers know as well some may be different from others.

All bikers know that there are few things are as exhilarating as hopping onto a big two-wheeler, rolling the throttle, and rumbling out onto the road. The rumble of motorcycles on the open road is music to our ears. It means spring has sprung and people are revved up to get back on the roads having fun with our brothers and sisters or alone with our thoughts.

And Although Spring has sprung and you’re about ready to break down that garage door and hit the road. Before your heel hits that kickstand, take a little time to make sure your bike is as ready for spring as you are. It will make sure your as safe as you can be before riding. Also, go over your gear and make sure that it is definitely in good shape gear breaks down over time and can even break down without wear and we can help you replace it quickly.

The 2017 Daytona Bike Week Is Underway and in Full Swing Check It Out!

The 2017 Daytona Bike Week Is Underway and in Full Swing Check It Out! AMERiders brings you a bit more goings on of the fun and frolicking in Florida. As the rumble of motorcycles echoes through Daytona Beach with the 76th annual Bike Week well underway. Half a million visitors are expected to crowd the streets of Daytona Beach.
the city has fine-tuned the way it manages traffic and crowds. “We’ve been doing this for a while,” said Police Chief Capri stated. “We have people come from other parts of the country to watch how we do things, how we move traffic and work people as far as moving them.

We have probably three major super bowls every year: Race week, bike week and Spring Break.”  Students on Spring Break are in Daytona Beach this week as well. Capri says Bike Week has evolved into a countywide event over the years, but most visitors end up on Daytona Beach’s main street at least once during the week. “It’s more of a Central Florida event,” said Capri. “There are events going on in Flagler County and even down in Orlando at the Harley shop there. Lake County has a little bit of it of Daytona Bike week going on as well.”
