Daytona Bike Week 2021 Starts Friday & Will Follow COVID-19 Guidelines

Daytona Bike Week 2021 starts this Friday, March 5th, 2021, and will follow COVID-19 guidelines and practices. Bike Week will run for 10 days. from are Friday, March 5 to Sunday, March 14, 2021. January 20, 2021, city commissioners have agreed to let this year’s biker party run its usual 10-day course with all of its carnival-like trappings. Bands will belt out their tunes from parking lot stages, the scantily clad beer tub girls will keep bikers well-hydrated, and the vendors’ turkey legs and trinkets will flow. AMERiders has its usual bikey-goodness info for you.

At the city commission meeting on Jan. 20, 2021, it was agreed that permits would be issued that allowed businesses to temporarily do things outside they normally can’t. This was only agreed upon in exchange for a promise from bars, restaurants, and shops to limit their indoor occupancy to 60% during Daytona Bike Week 2021 which will run from March 5-14.

Usually, about 400,000 motorcyclists will grace the streets of Daytona Beach. However, Daytona Bike Week 2021 is not expected to be a typical bike week. Even though this year marks the 80th anniversary of Daytona Bike Week, the Chamber of Commerce, which hosts the event, expects crowds to be about half their normal size this year due to COVID. The city has limited hotel and business occupancy to 60 percent of capacity, and bars and restaurants are supposed to limit their service to outdoor venues as much as they possibly can.

The outdoor trappings of Bike Week will be less affected. Bands will perform on makeshift stages in vacant downtown lots. Scantily-clad women will sell beer and beverages from tents lining the main streets. Empty storefronts are rented out as impromptu tattoo parlors and souvenir shops.

AMERiders requests that if you DO go to Daytona Bike Week 2021 please follow all COVID-19 guidelines and Practices.
