May is chock full of holidays, observances, and appreciation days for many different people, and things from Motorcycle Awareness Month to Memorial day and Many in between there are many times we bikers love to ride and celebrate these holidays, observances, and appreciation days because we have a strong belief in them. AMERiders wants to touch point on just a few of these that are observed here in the USA. That we found on a calendar for the USA for this year.
Motorcycle Saftey Awareness Month
May brings out the warmer weather, and with that, it’s time to remind everyone to be on the alert and to share the road with motorcyclists. Those of us who have been cooped up all winter are excited to be out on the road again, but that shouldn’t stop us from using caution.
Motorcyclists and motorists alike need to be aware of their surroundings. Checking blind spots, mirrors and using turn signals are critical when changing lanes and when passing. Distractions during driving could mean the difference between seeing a motorcyclist or not when preparing to change lanes. Don’t let one text change anyone’s life forever!
Riders need to take precautions as well. Take a defensive driving course, wear protective gear and keep your bike in its best working condition. Also, be aware of any road hazards and dangerous weather conditions. Most of all, enjoy the ride and make it home again!
Remembering those that are lost in action or that are Prisoners of War is something we all need to do. One way to show our support for the folks in the US Armed Forces, and our POW/MIA servicemen and women is to take wear our DOT POW/MIA BEANIE HELMET.
This helmet is DOT approved and safe so it will protect you if you take a nasty spill. It is made out of various shell sizes so you can be confident it will fit well and look awesome at the same time.
This is a DOT Vented Shorty Series Beanie Helmet which is the lightest and smallest in the market. The helmet integrates adjustable vents on the front and top, letting out stale damp air and letting in cool fresh air. There are no other helmets on the market that have a vent like this one. The Vented Motorcycle Helmets are tested and keep you 20 Degrees cooler when opened.
Don’t forget Mother’s Day on May 14th
Mother’s Day is right around the corner and our Motorcycle Mom’s need love and recognition just like those who don’t ride or have children that ride. So we at AMERiders have pulled a couple of our favorites as suggestions for great gift ideas for mom, that she would love. They both will help with protection all year long and during May’s Motorcycle Awareness Month.
So, Get Mom something she will like with this great Women’s Leather Ponytail Holder will help her keep her hair from getting tangled and matted while riding, as well as looking good too. This stunning ponytail holder helps to keep her long locks wrapped up and out of the way so you can concentrate on the road and not on her hair whipping in the breeze. It is long and full of beads and studs.
Armed Forces Day
Many Americans celebrate Armed Forces Day annually on the third Saturday of May (5/20/17). It is a day to pay tribute to men and women who serve the United States’ armed forces. Armed Forces Day is also part of Armed Forces Week, which begins on the second Saturday of May. Many events across the United States take place on Armed Forces Day to honor Americans in uniform who served their country in times of war and peace.
Those who are honored on this day include people who serve the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. National Guard and Reserve units may celebrate Armed Forces Day/Week over any period in May because of their unique training schedules. There are also many “Support the Troops” themed motorcycle ride as well as parades and other events that go on across the US.
Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May (5/29/2017). It was formerly known as Decoration Day and commemorates all men and women who have died in military service for the United States. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials on Memorial Day and it is traditionally seen as the start of the summer season.
It is traditional to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff from dawn until noon. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. Many volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries. Memorial Day is combined with Jefferson Davis’ Birthday in Mississippi.
Memorial Day has become less of an occasion of remembrance. Many people choose to hold picnics, sports events and family gatherings on this weekend. This day is traditionally seen as the start of the summer season for cultural events. There are also many “Memorial Day Rides” to many of the military memorial walls by many motorcycle groups as well as parades and other events that go on across the US.
Show your respect
Our Men’s Plain Vest With POW is made from top grade leather showing the unimaginable quality of workmanship of this garment. There is no comparison, this is a great addition to the riding lifestyle. Displaying the red POW logo on the front and back. It shows that you respect people who put their lives on the line for freedom. Everything with this vest just shows that it’s fitting, slim and comfortable. Giving you 2 inside pockets and 2 front pockets, you’ll have space to spare.
Show your respect to the people who deserve it. The best to show your pride is by wearing what you are about. The respect you have towards POW can now be heard and so can the thought of their hard work. Be supportive, show it! Please let us remember that this is a day of remembrance and not a day to Thank our veterans for their service that is Veterans day later this year.
Also as soon as my boss gives it to me, I will let you know what our annual Memorial Day discount code will be. Keep watching so you don’t miss it!!!!!!!
