Darkest Side
Indian® Chieftain Dark Horse®

This gorgeous dark beauty is your basic Chief Classic which has been blacked-out from warbonnet to the rear fender. Even its Thunder Stroke 111 air/oil-cooled 49-degree V-twin & its sweet six-speed transmission have had their chrome acreage drastically reduced. Indian states that “it gives an unpolished and raw approach while maintaining the legendary Indian Cheif style.”

There there are around 40 accessories designed with the bike. Most obvious in the photos are the black ape-hanger bars air filter. There is also a blacked-out exhaust/heat shield available as well.

Darkest Side
Helmet after crash

One of our brothers went down this week and was lucky to be wearing his protective gear. He was going around 45 mph with a group of brothers and sisters when the front brakes on the bike he was riding locked up causing him to be ejected from the motorcycle, land in the roadway and roll about 30 times.

Darkest Side
Jacket after crash

We are so glad he is okay and came out of it with only abrasions and bruising. We are including a picture of his helmet and his jacket to show you how much protective gear helps.

Share the Road and Be Aware of Everyone and Everything!

Since May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month there is an appeal by several organizations including the AMA, to share the road with each other and to be extra aware of everyone and everything around them, and we at AMERiders want to encourage this as well. Making yourself more visible to other drivers is important so that they not only see you but notice you as well (and yes, these are two different things).

AMERiders wanted to put this blog post out not only to our brothers and sisters but to our friendly drivers that follow us as well. It is important for EVERYONE to look out for each other as what some drivers may not realize is what can be a small crash to them can be life threatening to a motorcyclist. It is very dangerous for a motorcyclist to not pay attention to their surroundings as oil, pedestrians, and even a stray animal can be fatal to them. So please pay careful attention when riding and driving and share the road.

share the road
Can you see the rider

During the winter months, drivers don’t see motorcycles as much as they do during spring and summer months, and without seeing us on a daily basis, it is easy for drivers to forget about those of us on two wheels motorized or not.

share the road
Watch your mirrors

It is important to check mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes and, especially, to watch for motorcyclists, bike riders, and even pedestrians. As they are not as easy to see as other larger vehicles are. As AMA president and CEO Rob Dingman, states “The warmer weather in May brings out the riders who have been unable to ride all winter, so it presents an excellent opportunity for us to educate the non-riding public about the safety issues that affect motorcyclists every time we roll out of our driveways or onto a trail.”

share the road
Remember to Share the road

Drivers can avoid a crash with a motorcycle by and looking twice to spot motorcycles in traffic, and even more carefully at intersections, respecting a motorcyclists’ riding space by not following too closely, Which should not be done with any vehicle anyway. Not all bikers are bad drivers which some drivers have a preconceived notion about, we don’t all race and go in between traffic and weave around, in reality, a lot of us are safe motorcycle riders.

share the road
Share the road with everyone

Even though May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month it is important to share the road with everyone, and everything that does not have 4 or more wheels to it. It is crucial to pay attention to everything and everyone around us so as to ensure that there are no accidents or fatalities. So remember to share the road with everyone and everything that has less than 4 wheels, 2 or even 4 legs. We want everyone and everything to be safe.

And as always….

Riding in the Rain? We have Tips on Staying Dry with Biker Rain Gear!

If you are Riding in the Rain, it sucks to be wet and uncomfortable. Stay Dry and comfortable with AMERiders Biker Rain Gearplus we have a few extra tips to help as well. Let’s face it if you are not riding in the rain you are not really riding, as most bikers will ride in any type of weather. Rain or Shine they love to ride and so do we.

Biker Rain Gear
Women’s 11″ Comfort Biker Boot Black

So let’s start off by saying that wet and cold weather are always going to be a part of motorcycle riding and it is up to us to stay dry and warm in inclement weather. Luckily with the great technology that comes with clothing and footwear manufacturing, there are plenty of waterproof options to help keep you dry during those cloudy or chilly days in the saddle. For those of us that have ever ridden in the rain with chaps, we all know where that rain goes and that is no fun.

Biker Rain Gear
Motorcycle Rain Boot Covers With Rubber Outer Sole RainGuard Legs

Boots come in all shapes, sizes and styles but we like to give boots that are waterproof top billing as they come in handy when riding. You never know when you will need a boot to keep your feet dry, and warm as well. Even if the rain has stopped the road is still wet and there are puddles and water standing everywhere. Even if you have found that perfect set of boots and they are not waterproof find a great pair of waterproof rain covers for your boots like these Motorcycle Rain Boot Covers With Rubber Outer Sole RainGuard Legs   they not only will help to keep your feet dry and warm but they have soles for good traction as well.

Biker Rain Gear
2 Piece Rain Suit Gear

Riding Pants and Jackets can either be waterproof or water resistant, and can be bought separately or together. Our 2 Piece Rain Suit Gear not only is waterproof and windproof, it is made from a breathable fabric and has pockets as well. Two-piece rain suits give the advantage to let you be prepared for many situations. If the roads are wet and it is not raining any longer, then just pants may be the only part of your suit needed. Ensure when looking for a 2-piece suit that they can attach or seal off to prevent water, moisture or air seeping in between the jacket and the pants.

Biker Rain Gear
1 Piece Rain Suit

However, some riders prefer a 1 Piece Rain Suit when riding for maximum all over protection from the elements. These suits usually have Strategically placed venting and other rider-friendly features. A one-piece rain suit also offers the advantage of preventing the chance of air seeping into the jacket as well as full weather coverage.

Biker Rain Gear
Long Raincover Gauntlet Gloves

Another great addition to our Biker Rain Gear our hands are always in motion, braking, shifting, twisting the throttle, etc. They are always exposed, out in the open, getting pounded on by the rain. Ensuring that your hands stay dry and warm, is not an easy task, however, there are many choices of waterproof riding gloves available, so choose wisely. Our Long Raincover Gauntlet Gloves are a great example of a rain glove that you can use when riding.

Other tips are to ensure you have great tires for riding in the rain, watch for rainbows on the ground that is usually a clear sign of oil, give yourself more space than usual to stop, and for emergency maneuvers if necessary. There are many more great tips these are just our top few that we use when riding. We at AMERiders hope that this information on wearing Biker Rain Gear helps to keep you safe, warm and dry while riding.

Finding the Best Motorcycle Footwear for You!

AMERiders is committed to helping our customers find the best affordable motorcycle gear to keep you protected while riding! Which is why we want to give you information and tips on finding the Best Motorcycle Footwear for You!  Choosing the right pair of motorcycle boots is never easy, it is one of the hardest accessories to fit into your wardrobe, as they help to keep our feet warm/cool, dry as well as protected from injury while riding. Finding a boot that fits comfortably and has other needs that you may want is not as easy as it may sound. We have gathered a few tips to help you find the Best Motorcycle Footwear for you.

Best Motorcycle Footwear
Women’s Biker Boot Black

The first step in finding the Best Motorcycle Footwear is to decide on what you want from your boots. There are many requirements a rider can want from his/her boots below we have listed a few. In listing these we thought of our issues when riding and gathered these for you, of course, may have different issues and requirements this is just a helpful starting guideline. Finding that perfect pair of boots is difficult and when you do find them make sure you grab an extra pair. You never know when that manufacturer won’t make them anymore and when yours wear out you will have to start looking for another pair of perfect boots again.

  • Comfort
  • Correct Fit- no pinching or pressure points
  • Lightweight (you don’t want to feel like you have encased concrete on your feet when you pick up your foot)
  • Rubber Soles
  • Adjustable (Ties, Velcro, etc)
  • Waterproof (this is an important one)
  • Ventilation
  • Stylish (this is more for women than it is for men
  • Leather not Pleather .
Best Motorcycle Footwear
Men’s 13″ Harness Boot Black

Whether you’re a man or a woman choosing a pair of motorcycle boots is not easy, however, men may have it a bit easier since most are not as style conscious as some women are. Besides the requirements above it is also important to think about the rider’s height , and the type of motorcycle, he/she rides as well as they type of riding they do as well. All of this will help factor into a perfect pair of boots that will make you comfortable for many rides to come.

Best Motorcycle Footwear
Women’s 11″ Comfort Biker Boot Black

For those of us, that ride cruiser bikes, it may be practical to wear a more classic style boot, (ie a harness boot or other classic style) , however, if the rider frequently rides for long distances they may want to think about a waterproof boot, not just rain boot covers.  It is also a good idea to think about choosing a boot that has a steel toe as that can give extra protection to your feet, during a fall or accident.

Best Motorcycle Footwear
Women’s 11″ Fashion Harness Boot Black

Always make sure that your boots have soles that give the proper amount of grip for the riding that you are doing. Oil Resistant soles are important to have especially when riding on the street, as oil is a riders downfall (literally) when riding in wet conditions if their boots don’t have oil resistant soles.

You also want to make sure that your footwear not only fits you but fits your bike. You want to make sure that the toe is not too thick where you can’t put your foot in between the foot control and gear shifter, or that your heel is too thick or big as it may make it harder for you to move your foot where it needs to be quickly.

Best Motorcycle Footwear
Men’s 13″ Engineer Boot Black

Finding the Best Motorcycle Footwear may seem like it could be a simple thing to do, however, it isn’t and a lot of effort and time goes into finding that perfect pair of boots. The biggest thing is to choose a boot that will allow you to control your motorcycle well and without much of a hassle. You can never own too many pairs of boots so when you find a pair that fits you well and works for what you need, buy a second pair as a backup. You never know when your favorite pair of boots may not be made anymore and you will at least have a backup pair on hand.

Although we may be giving you information all about boots be sure to check out our other apparel and gear for you and your bike. Anything over $50 we ship for free.

We May Work Hard but We Play Even Harder!

We have come at you a bit hard lately giving you information on riding safe and great gear to keep you safe, it’s time to give you something light and let you know that although at AMERiders We May Work Hard but We Play Even Harder! So, we headed last night (5/4/2016) to have some fun at our local ballpark.

We May Work Hard
Pensacola Blue Wahoos Logos
We May Work Hard
Courtney(AMSNWF Owner) and Christine (AMERiders Manager)

After all, it can’t be all work and no play! We went to see the Pensacola Blue Wahoos play the Biloxi Shuckers. We love hanging out with all of our brothers and sisters so that is just what we did and low and behold we ran into more than we expected. Our local Indian/BMW dealership had two gorgeous bikes on display. These gorgeous bikes were at the Blue Wahoos Stadium courtesy of the dealerships owner Courtney Pereira of Adventure Motor Sports of North West Florida. I was lucky enough to catch him lounging on the Red Chieftain and got a picture snapped with him. We may both not like to have our pictures taken but we sure do love motorcycles.

We May Work Hard
Yoda Loves the Indian Scout

They brought two gorgeous bikes an Indian Chieftain and an Indian Scout and even Yoda loved the Scout as you can tell by the picture to our left. We had loads of fun watching the game. As it was star wars night, kids chasing after a person dressed like a roach in a Jedi costume, now that was funny to watch. There were all kinds of fun things going on, and so much fun with our brothers and sisters as we said earlier we may work hard but we play even harder!

We May Work Hard
Gorgeous weather at the ballpark

The ballpark was gorgeous but the weather was even better as it was bright sunny and the temperature was just right as well, not too hot but not too cold, you know the perfect weather for riding your motorcycle. Which is just what most all of us did, except the ones of us with children. And the Blue Wahoos felt “The Force” and won 8-3 over the Biloxi Shuckers at the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Ballpark which of course we were all thrilled about.

If any of our followers were at this event let us see hear from you and tell us how much fun you had, this is why we do what we do, bring you information on safety, new bikes, and new gear that is coming out, as we love connecting with our brothers and sisters each and every day. At AMERiders We May Work Hard but We Play Even Harder with all our brothers and sisters as well. Check out or gallery for other great pictures that were taken at our outing as we had a blast! We have a special album set up just for it.

5 Motorcycle Accessory Must Haves When Riding!

Have you been told that you need this or you must have that Motorcycle Accessory for your bike? It happens to all of us at one point or another after starting out to ride and even after riding for many years and meeting new people, we have all heard that line many times. But, what are 5 Motorcycle Accessory Must Haves When Riding your bike? We at AMERiders will give you 5 of our favorites to have.

Motorcycle Accessory
Diamond Plate™ Adjustable, Waterproof Motorcycle/Bicycle GPS/Smartphone Mount

Ladies, most of you will agree with me when I say it is hard to get our men to ask for directions, guys we love you but it’s true you would get lost and still not want to ask for directions heck some of us ladies are just as guilty of this as well. So our first one is a GPS/Cell Phone holder this Adjustable, Waterproof GPS/Smartphone Mount is what you need to keep you on track no matter where you are headed. It has great features including a sun visor and interior cushion that will fit larger Smartphone’s; water-resistant bag; and handle bracket mount with a rubber-covered clamp. Measures 7-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ x 2″. and what’s more it comes gift boxed so you can give it to your favorite “I don’t need to ask for directions” person whether they be male or female.

Motorcycle Accessory
10 Motorcycle Tool Bag With UV Protection

Our next favorite Motorcycle Accessory to carry along is a tool bag, as you never know when you are going to have something break on your bike or see one of our brothers or sisters broke down on the side of the road and needing a hand. Tool bags will fasten to your bikes forks for easy reach when needed, most of our tool bags are universally fitting so that they will fit just about any make and model of bike. This 10″ Motorcycle Tool Bag is one of those tool bags it not only is universal fitting for most bikes, but it includes a hard sheet inside the bag, features a heavy duty quick release, is 100% waterproof as well as being UV protected to keep it from turning white in extreme heat and will hold its shape as well which is good.

Motorcycle Accessory
PVC Motorcycle Saddlebag With Studs

The third item we like to have on our bike is a stylish set of saddlebags, they can help carry a load of items that you may need in a pinch or if you decided you want to take a day or night trip they will work for that too. We like to keep various different things in ours, such as a rain suit important paperwork (that doesn’t fit in the wallet) and any other things that may be emergency items or anything you want to carry with you that you may need extra shirts, pants or even forbid underoos. This set of saddlebags is waterproof, universally fitting to most makes and models of bikes as are most of our saddlebags, and has a heavy duty quick release and tie downs for extra security for your bike and many other great features.

Motorcycle Accessory
Red & Black Get Back Whip For Motorcycles

The next item we love to carry on our bike is a Get Back Whip to ensure that we are seen while riding on the streets, highways and open roads. Stylish braided whips like this Red & Black one are a great way to make every effort you can to be seen and not run over, years ago motorcycles were the only vehicles with the headlight on all the time and people noticed us, now almost every vehicle made comes with daytime running lights. Our whips come with a quick release clip that can be attached to either the brake or clutch lever, and a few of them  like this one even come with a small silver skull tied to fringe for extra attention when needed, and sometimes it is.

Motorcycle Accessory
USA Flag Motorcycle Cup Holder

The Last Motorcycle Accessory but not certainly not least is a cupholder, to hold your favorite beverage to keep you hydrated while you ride.  Keeping hydrated while you ride is important! Believe it or not, most bikers don’t think about dehydration being a problem when riding, we just get thirsty, however, it is very important. Dehydration can cause headaches, disorientation, heat stroke, muscle cramps which can suck when the throttle is wide open, loss of concentration, drowsiness and nausea which is bad for the guy or gal behind you, all of which can cause crashes.

So stay hydrated all is needed is a bottle of water attached to your bike with a cup holder like this one when you stop at a red light or feel a bit thirsty pull over and take a swig it only takes a second or two.

There are many more items we like to carry with us, but these are just a few of our favorites check out our For the bike section for other items, versions, colors, and variations of these items that will help you customize your bike while also helping you to stay hydrated, keeping your tools close at hand and more.

We would like to give a big shout out our fellow Floridian that purchased the tool bags we thank you very much!

Women Riders & Ye Old Footwear Mystery How Does It Mesh?

Everyone knows the old footwear mystery that deals with women and their shoes, we like to own too many and some of us way….too many, but how does it work with motorcycles? AMERiders knows, women love their footwear, and why wouldn’t they some men do too and we don’t judge. However, there are some of us that will hop on a bike in any type of shoe no matter what it is just because we can’t bear to part with the sweet outfit look we have made for that day. Whether it very dangerous to do so or not.

Old Footwear MysteryIt is a mystery that has surrounded men and women for many years about women’s obsession with shoes. Men and some women who don’t share in this mystery don’t get it, why we have to have more shoes than guys may have underwear. Old Footwear MysteryMen can have a pair of sneakers, a pair of work boots, a pair of motorcycle boots, however, these can be the same , and a good pair of dress shoes and that is all they need. Not so with women, they need shoes to match everything, and still say they have nothing to wear.

Old Footwear MysteryWalking around in stiletto’s is one thing but trying to balance a 500lb or more bike on them is another. They biggest mystery is a woman getting on that motorcycle in these heels but you see it every day whether they are riding with their man or riding their own motorcycle these are not adequate for riding! For someone that loves their shoes aren’t they worried about scuff marks, breaking their heels, orOld Footwear Mystery what is more , dropping their bike because they lose their balance?

How many of you ladies have broken how many pairs of heels from just a normal day? It sucks, then why, do it while riding it can cause an accident and possibly cause a fatality with you or the person that was in the collision with you, plus you could lose a great pair of heels!

Old Footwear Mystery
WOMENS BIKER BOOTS WITH EAGLE AT ANKLE

Wearing proper riding attire is important, and can be much more of a fashion statement than wearing a pair of heels on a boot, leave that to the models for Harley, Indian or other motorcycle manufacturers. A great boot not only makes a statement it protects your ankles and feet from burns from the exhaust pipe, it protects your ankle from sprains and possible breaks if the bike is dropped while standing still and serious injuries in light collisions. The level of protection compared to heels or other shoes that women may want to wear besides boots is far superior as ankle and leg support are designed for impact as well as withstanding abrasions that can occur while riding.

At AMERiders, we want to ensure that our Lady Riders are safe while riding which is why we provide this information. We have a limited selection of boots at this time and will have new stock in shortly.

Old Footwear Mystery

Keep Checking back for our announcement of new products as we will have something coming very soon that you Ladies will love to get your hands on to complete your stylized looks. Gents you will love these items too, as they will make you look even cooler than you do now!

Which Gear Colors Work Best for Visibility to Other Drivers

Ensuring safety each and every time you ride is important especially at this time during the year when motorcyclists are just starting to get back out on the road and ride. It is a question that many riders ask “Which Gear Colors Work Best for Visibility to Other Drivers” well, we are here to help answer that question. The obvious Best Gear Colors answer is bright colors which is true, however, there is more to it than that.

Best Gear Colors
Men’s Green And Black Mesh And Nylon Motorcycle Jacket

Each and every day many motorcyclists are injured on the road because drivers say “I didn’t see them” is it their fault or is it the riders fault? How could it have been prevented? In many ways, the driver could have looked and paid more attention to his/her surroundings and the rider could wear some of the Best Gear Colors that would make them more visible to other drivers during all times of the day.

HJC SY-MAX III MODULAR HI-VIZ TOURING HELMET

Wearing Reflective or fluorescent clothing will lower your risk for crashes as you are more visible than you would be wearing darker colors. A study shows however that most riders wear either black, blue, or brown clothing on the upper body and black or blue clothing on their lower body. Even if you wear darker colors adding a reflective stripe or piping to them can raise your possibility of being seen.

Main reported helmet colors that are mostly used are black, white, and red. In comparison, there is a lower risk of a crash happening when wearing a white helmet versus a black helmet. Similar associations have been found with orange and yellow versus red. If you really want to be noticed don an HI-VIZ helmet like the one shown here. Plus adding reflective tape to your current favorite helmet will also help.

Using reflective piping on various pieces of gear will help as well like these cool looking Motorcycle Sissy Bar Bag Trunk With Skull the reflective skull will definitely get you noticed by other drivers, and it is made from PVC material which means it is waterproof helping you to be seen in the rain as well.

Something else that can also help is if you use headlight every time you get on your bike not just at dark or. at twilight, it will help you be seen more often. Research has shown that consistently using your headlights during the day can decrease the risk of an accident by making you more visible to passing drivers. Headlights increase the odds of a driver not only noticing a motorcycle but seeing them as well. To a motorcycle rider seeing and noticing are two different things. When both happen then the risk of collision is lowered.

“A 2004 study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that use of headlights led to a 23 percent reduction in opposite direction crashes involving motorcyclists, as opposed to a 5 percent drop for those in passenger vehicles. Experts say that oncoming motorists are able to detect a headlight long before they can make out the motorcycle or its rider. The headlight provides an extra bit of warning, something that might be the difference between a dangerous accident and a safe journey home.”

So to sum up some of the Best Gear Colors to wear are White, HI-Viz yellow, orange, any fluorescent colors, and reflective striping and piping on your gear, and yes ladies even pink will work! There is more of a risk for a crash when not wearing fluorescent or reflective clothing,a non-white helmet, or even not using headlights during the day. So wear what will get you seen and use your headlights. You don’t have to look like a crossing guard or a safety worker to get noticed while riding but being safe is important.
